Recently, the Port City took a bold step to enhance its vibrant Brooklyn Arts District by launching a Social District Pilot Program. The Brooklyn Arts District (BAD), is known for its rich history and lively arts scene, is home to art galleries, cafes, restaurants, and small boutiques. And, the Social District initiative allowed visitors to purchase alcoholic beverages from local businesses and enjoy them in public, designated outdoor areas, primarily along Fourth Street.
By creating a designated social district, the city aimed to enhance the area’s charm, attract more foot traffic, and support local artists and entrepreneurs. Over 20 businesses participated, including Flytrap Brewing, Palate Bottle Shop & Garden, three10, and Pizzeria Don Luca. We’re hoping the Social District is here to stay – after all, it is just a few blocks from Overlook at River Place!
